Default Best mods for an 04 pre-runner

I just picked up a silver 04 pre-runner V6 completely stock. I am coming from a 95 Chevy 1500 that I had upgraded for years but I can't drive everyday anymore.

I know I want it to sound better and I have to do something about sound dampening VERY SOON.

If you had a blank canvas pre-runner and had about $1000-$2000(and more over the next year) burning a whole in your pocket what would you do to it first. Performance or cosmetic mods, doesn't matter.

Also, I can't find any pics here. I would love to see some awesome tacomas to get some ideas.

thanks for any help or suggestions in advance.

First day Tacoma owner,
Shamus

I have been searching archives on the forum for a while and it sounds like the deckplate and resonator capping is real easy so I will probably start on that this weekend.

Then I might order a performance exhaust. What is the best exhaust for the money on the tacomas?

My Tacoma has a real road noise issue. I have been searching for fixes but haven't found any. Is this typical and is there any fixes?

Also, it seems like there is not all that much to do cosmetically for Tacomas. Do most people just keep them clean and throw on some chrome or paint everything the same color?

Thanks,
Shamus

Deckplate mod is the cheapest mod along with a AFE airfilter aka TRD. I also added a Airaid MIT which replaces the stock intake tube. Magnaflow 18" muffler added to it. Thats about all you can do for performance on a na 3.4L.
