Default 2001 Rg cab4x4 tire size

Hey I have a stock 01reg cab 4x4 and it is my daily driver and my hunting truck and I need tires. I want to put BFG mts like my other trucks but it is stock hight and i don't know what the tallest tire i can put on the 2006 tacoma wheels I have. I want to put a 255x 85 r16 on it but I don't want any rubbing so I might have to put a 265x75 r16 . Has anyone tried this yet or know if it will fit?

im pretty sure that the biggest tire you can fit without rubbing...or a lift....is 265/75/16.

You CAN fit the 255/85's on there, but you will have to do a lot of trimming and bending. I suggest sticking with 265/75's.

Also, I believe the 05+ Tacoma wheels have a higher backspacing (~5", I believe). The 95-04 Tacoma's came with ~4.375" backspacing. This means your 06 wheels will look "pushed in". This might also give you some rubbing issues with the bigger tires. I'd look for a set of 96-04 Tacoma or 4Runner rims.
