Default Got my truck broken into on new years eve :(

My friends car got broken into on sat night, smashed window gps and stereo stolen out of there. Told him damn that sucks should of had an alarm, well 3 days later i come out of the apt bout to hop in the truck and see broken glass by the side of my truck but my window still looked there. I thought to myself damn must of been the car beside me and they already left.......WRONG. I open my door and glass falls everywhere. I look in there and the gps was gone and they tried to take my brake controller b/c it was just hanging by the wires. Im guessing the idiot thought it was a radar detector. I think the alarm must have been going off b/c they didnt take my alpine headunit or my amp and sub. Anyways GEICO doesnt cover the gps so that sucked but i ended up upgrading anyway.
Just had to rant a bit damn thieves

If only I was back in VA and not training in OKC this wouldnt of happened!!!

That really sucks. What did GEICO cover? Part of the comp coverage?

What would you recommend different about an alarm? I am going to get a viper model with remote start, shock, motion sensor and starter interlock for mines. PLus I have the oem radio and only facy stuff is under the hood.

Yeah geico offered the comp coverage which my deductible is 100 bucks but since im here in OKC on "buisness" im staying in FAA corporate housing AKA ghetto apts lol. So I complained to them b/c they are supposed to have security 7 days a week so they are paying for my smashed in window and im just using geico for my rental car. Geico doesnt cover the GPS either so i was out $ for that. Overall im not too won over by them, but hey they are cheap

As for recommending an alarm..... I really dont know, i think it did what it was supposed to and scared him off before getting my 400$ HU, Amp and sub. I think he broke the window (I think crowbar and pried out from the window molding) and the alarm went off and he just tried to get what was within reach and bolted. So thats a good thing I suppose
Oh well i guess, what can ya do?...... At least I got a dodge charger as a rental

I too have a suction cup gps, but seldom use it, keep it out of reach unless I need it. So far, plain jane interior minus the racaro ds seats. Those are a lot of work to remove.

I see best buy has a deal on a viper system with remote start. Would you let someone from best buy install an alarm?

I had geico, then they went up 300 bucks when I moved 7 miles. I dropped them for progressive and they matched myoriginal rate for same area and they knew I was movingtoo.

I got mytoy fully insure for168 for 6 months preminum.

I am getting a clifford remote start and alarm v3.3.
