Default Toyota radio wiring?

I search the site, which dumped me to google and read through many pages, but could not find much regarding backwardscompatability with radios. I did read on a scion forum that the bazooka sub harness part number PTS20-52040-WH will fit and can be used to hook up a sub and extra speakers/box, but amp is limited to 15 amps.

I was wondering if the connectors across toy was standard enough that a scion xb 06 radio would fit or at least plug in.

I called crutchfield, but they said they only sell the female connector, but not male. so I would need that and they do not sell it. I know the scion has 2 square connectors with a bunch of wires hooked up and the bazooka bass cable is generic across all the scion products.

Thanks. I have the radio/cd/mp3 player left over and the oem radio in my truck has the ability for radio and tapes obly.

Although the Crutchfield harness adapters make life easier, I would go with a complete new install, that way you can use more power. You really want to use better gauge wiring, higher power amps (15W is lame for a sub). PLUS, what few people realize, the OEM radios decrease bass with an increase in volume (to protect the speakers, I guess). If you get a DIN after- market unit from Crutchfield, you will see a major difference. I have a 2000 Taco with an after-market deck connected line-level to two amps under each seat, after-market component 5.25" speakers in doors, and a non-powered Bazooka behind the driver's seat. So I know thereof what I speak...it kicks butt! So bottom line, IMHO, is to convert to after-market with Crutchfield. Won't cost you your first-born and you can't beat Crutchfield's tech support (no,I don't work for them). Good luck

Default Re: Toyota radio wiring?

I believe that all non jbl toyota use the same connectors since 87. So electrically should work. fitting it in may be tougher. If you have the radio from the scion or can get it for free or near free, and are willing to make mods, then go for it. It the radio is going to cost almost as much as an aftermarket radio then why bother.
I do have coming adapters for both sides for my tundra as I am doing a speaker level input and did not want to cut factory wiring so they are available

OK. Just as an FYI, you can buy an adapter that converts from speaker level to line level if necessary. Good luck!
