Default 02 Tacoma wipers and sprayer turn on by themselves and will not shut off

I was on my way to work this morning, and all of a sudden my wipers and sprayer started going crazy, and the switch was off. I hadn't used them all morning and thought I was going crazy at first. They stayed on for about 10 seconds or so and then went off. About 20 seconds later they came back on and did the same thing. I tried turning the switch on and off and nothing worked. They kept doing this all the way to work until the washer resevoir was empty, and now I can hear the sprayer motor running and the wipers are stuck on. I plan on pulling the fuse for the ride home so the sprayer motor doesn't burn up, and know that I won't have any wipers ..... so I need to get this fixed soon! I haven't heard of this happening before, and can't find any similar threads. Can anyone help? I would like to know what may cause this, and how I may try to fix it. Any help would be appreciated!

Default Re: 02 Tacoma wipers and sprayer turn on by themselves and will not shut off

In case anyone happens to run across something like this in the future, I found a cracked housing on the wiring harness coming out of the washer fluid pump below the fluid resevoir. I pulled it apart and dried everything up with a hair dryer, put it back together, put silicone around the housing, and taped it up tight with electrical tape. That seems to have fixed the problem, it has worked okay since then. Keeping my fingers crossed.
