Intermittent Starting Problems
Hey, I have a 2002 toyota tacoma, 4x4, 2.7L, 5 spd. Lately, I have had problems starting my truck. When i turn the key, everything is normal ( ie. all the dash lights come on, air and radio turn on etc....) except that the motor doesn't crank. It is completely dead it doesn't make a sound. I was told by the person who installed my immoblizer that the clutch safety sensor ( I think thats what its called, it runs directly off of the clutch inside the cab) was loose. However. after pluging it in I am still having issues. The problem is intermittent it does not occur every time I start the truck.
I took it to the local toyota dealer and they wouldn't even look at because apparently the cannot fix an intermittent problem. The technician told me next time the problem occurs, use the clutch start cancel because it will override the sensor. According to him if that doesnt work i have a real issue. I am looking for some suggestions on what the problem could be or any comments you think might help. I'm thinking loose connection somewhere. Thanks!
