Thumbs up 1997 + Tacoma 2.7 Fuel Filter

Just a suggestion.
To all you Tacoma owners with 2.7 liter engines. (and probably 2.4 engines also)
Although Toyota does not recommend repacement of the fuel filters on these engines (In fact they make it almost impossible to get to by tucking it up under the intake manifold) I would stongly suggest that if you have high mileage on your truck and the filter has never been changed, you have the filter changed soon.
I had mine changed about a month ago and it made a world of difference in the performace of the engine. The old filter must have really been plugged because it felt like I had just gained 20hp and the engine ran much smoother.
THe filter is not easy to get to (you have to take the left front wheel of and get to it through the wheel well)
The mechanic that changed the filter for me workd for about a half hour /forty five minutes to get it done but his efforts were well worth the cost.

Thumbs up Re: 1997 + Tacoma 2.7 Fuel Filter

Thanks for that info, I have over 160,000 miles on my '99 and was wondering if I should change it. I guess I will. Thanks again, Tim
