Post ipod connection to stero?

I just bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. I love the truck but i'm having some issues with finding a way to hook up my ipod touch directly to the radio. I don't want to us a transmitter and i don't really care to up grade my stero. Is there anything out there that i can get to connect my ipod touch into the back of the stero that won't cost me $150? What kind of hook ups are on the back of the stero? I haven't pulled out the stero yet, but i'm sure that i soon will to find out. If there is anyone out there that knows of a simple and cheap way to hook up an ipod to the back of the stock stero for less than $150 let me know.

I will take a stab at this, not that I know. I do know for the scions the ipod option through the head unit where you can see the name of the song on the screen, work it with the buttons was 2005 and later. Earlier cars had to get the head unit upgraded to a later model AND the IPOD adapter thats 150 bucks. So, it sounds like you are in that boat.

I was too cheap to buy the adapter although I owned an 06 xa and just used a charger/fm transmitter for 10 bucks. I missed my steering wheel controls for it, but I never took my eye soff the road to read the screen.

My 09 xb has it already built in and even included the cable. I know most head units, even the cheapest of ones come with full ipod support minus the cable or a usb port to plug in a memory stick and work it by the buttons or steering wheel controls if you have the adapter to use them with an aftermarket head unit.
