4wd not engaging

taco 2004 v6, with stick 4wd
checked add @ transfer case and it will engage when i apply ground direct. 4wd will work great and 4wd light comes on until i disengage and then try to engage again. Then no 4wd & no light at dash

checked archives, checked fuse, checked ground from 4wd computer
relay is clicking @ passenger side, vacum lines are good

It has been to cold to mess with it but I am suspecting maybe a bad position switch at transfer case? anyone have a part # for this . I believe it should have continuity when button on switch is pushed in.

dealer told me it was part of the center integration assembly panel ie center section of dash board contains a bunch of switches and a couple of circuit boards... easy to replace by very costly part something like $600
