Default Disarming my Taco alarm

Hey! Just registered here and looking for some input. I bought a 2001 Double Cab last Fall. I really like the truck--except one thing--the alarm system drives me crazy. I bought the truck to use partly for a hunting rig. The alarm system having to be set before you leave the truck is noisy and if I forget, the horn goes off. A little unhandy to say the least.

I believe the alarm was installed by Toyota for the original buyer. It has the Toyota emblem on the key fob and the red indicator light in front of the gear shift says Toyota. The VIN does not show that an alarm came on the truck.

So, with this or with additional info, can anyone tell me how to shut this system off? I would be eternally grateful for any assistance.

Thanks.

TT

If it was a Toyota accessory on a 2001 model, I'm guessing you have the RS3000 intrusion protection system.

All the security functions are disabled if you put the alarm system into 'Valet Mode'. I'm guessing this can be used as a temporary disabling tactic. Instructions for programming the RS3000 system for Valet Mode can be found at:

EG:

Thanks SO much for the info. That was exactly what I needed. I think the VAlet Mode will be perfect. Many thanks.
