Default overheating problem

My brother has a 02 tundrav6. He's been having problems keeping his car cool. The car tends to get very hot when the ac is turned on. He has to ramp the fan on and blow the hot air in the cabin in order to not get it to overheat. He has changed all the fluids and thermostat. Any suggestions would be helpful. And oh yeah, he brought it to the toyota dealership and they couldn't find out what it was. We are lost

Sounds like a cooling fan problem, bad head gasket ( warped head), corroded radiator , could be a bad water pump ......... however if it ONLY overheats when the ac is on, this makes me think a its a fan problem ( electrical or bad fan motor), if thats not it could an electric problem somewhere else in the cooling system

sounds like the radiator rods are starting to get restricted when the ac is turned on the condenser actually heats up and might be just enough that the radiator cant keep up with the added hot air blowing on it.

okay. What would be the least costliest start to diagnosing the problem. What should i start by doing first?

The idle will increase when the A/C kicks on, which will raise the oil pressure a bit. That's nothing out of the ordinary, but how much is the needle jumping?

99% of the time its one of 4 things. Start with the fluid. Flush it all. Then change the thermostat. If that doesnt fix your problem, the next easiest is the radiator. If youre still overheating change the waterpump. Thats how I would go after it.....this is assuming you have no moisture in the exhaust and no obvious leaks....and the waterpump is not screaming....chances are since its an 02 and not a huge overheating problem, I would do the water pump if it has not already been done. That I am pretty sure is either a 75k service or a 100k service...

So, you crank the truck up, turn on the ac and ket it idle it will get into the red? Could be a bad new thermostat, fan clutch or partly clogged radiator. With my ac on I see no effect on temp, but do feel when it kicks in.
