Since I have towed a car to PA from VA, I notice even unloaded my truck will hang in 3rd gear even while puling a vacuum, then after a few minutes, clunk shift to od. Here are 3 examples on my trip to a truck show in wv from va.
Notice I am pulling vacuum and it seems to just hang, then clunk or bump it goes to od.

The dealer said this is normal, if the computer thinks I do not ned od, it will not use it even if I am drawing a vacuum.
