Default 03 Taco different seat option & other question

Hey all,

I'm normally on the new gen Tundra site but I recently picked up a second hand vehicle. An 03 Taco Reg Cab 4x4. It was one of my company trucks and was used as a security patrol truck on a mine site. We bought it used with around 33K miles and it now has 176K miles. NO major issues to report. It still runs great considering what it has been through. The truck averaged approximately 3K miles per month for the last 4 years or about 100 miles per night. It also did A LOT of idling so it has a lot of hours on it.

Anyway, two things I want to get done to it, if possible, are to upgrade the very uncomfortable bench seat. Are there any options? Can I find a junker with a nicer seat, maybe one with an arm rest and switch them out w/o any major modifications?

Secondly, the truck is silver/gray and has black bumpers, mirrors, door handles, big stock black fender flares etc. I would like to paint the factory steel wheels--black to match the other black pieces. Can someone tell me the best way to go about doing this? Possibly, sand, prime, paint. Particular products to use etc.

Thanks

The simplest OEM transplant approach would be to swap 2001 - 2004 Tacoma buckets (and maybe the center console) into the Regular Cab. The buckets will fit up 'as is', with no more hassle than probably needing to drill maybe 4 holes (already marked or pre-drilled) in the floorpan.

The simplest of all would be installing any of the better aftermarket seats (e.g., Recaro) for which the manufacturer (or Wedge Engineering) offers a custom bracket. Naturally, this approach would involve more $$$$$$.

4Runner seats can be transplanted with 3 of the 4 holes (per set) lining up - meaning you'll need to do some fabrication / tweaking to finish it off.

Other Toyota passenger car seats (especially Celica seats) can be transplanted if you're willing to fabricate / frankenstein the seat bases.

If you can deal with fabricating a custom base / mount / bracket you can basically install anything that'll physically fit.

Buckets sound great with the center console as squeezing three people in that little truck is a "tight" fit to say the least. Thank's for all the options. This gives me something to think about and to check out.
