Question I just bought a Tacoma....

....and I'm pretty excited (check out my profile picture). It's a 2003 with 46,000 miles. It has pretty much all the features I was looking for, except that it has an auto trans instead of a manual. I have a few general questions.

I was thinking of running synthetic gear oil in the diffs. It already has synthetic oil in the engine. In my previous vehicle running full synthetic in the engine and diffs increased my mileage by about 2 mpg. Has anyone done this with a tacoma? Does the fact that it has a locking rear effect the type of gear oil i can use?

I read in the reviews on the edmonds webpage and the only real annoyance people seem to have is that some tacomas develop a squeaky dashboard. That doesn't seem like something to really complain about, and I imagine that it would be easy to fix with a little investigative work. Are there any other quirks to this vehicle that I might expect? If so, any advice on how to address them?

Thanks in advance
