Default bed size of double cab Tacoma? 2003 price?

Hello,

Anyone haul a dirt bike in their double cab tacoma? Looks like one would fit with the tail gate down. Hell, had to put the tail gate down in my last F 150 supercab. Miss having a truck and have the "fever" to get a double cab tacoma. I'm hoping the dealer will let me take one home and I can load my bike in.

edmunds gives a price of about $24500 for an 03 double cab with the options I want (OR, SR5, Conv. pak, air). Dealer says no incentives on the dbl cab, but need to make some sales in a slow month. Anyone buy lately?? Price?

TIA
John in CO

Now is an excellent time to buy. Dealers are wanting to sell their '03's to make room for '04's that should be out near October.

Don't deal with a floor salesman. Get with the internet sales staff (if hey have one) or the fleet sales department. You will usually get a better deal.

I looked at the Taco dould cabs to haul my streetbike, but I didn't like the idea of the rear tire resting on the tail gate for support. It's not as big of an issue with a dirt bike though. Good luck and don't forget that the dealer also gets a holdback on the truck.

Here's a link to a great explanation of a holdback. For Toyota, it's 2% of the base MSRP before options.

Check out these sites before buying and you will learn a lot. There is a lot of info, but it's good.

And one on prices and holdbacks

Take some time, don't sign anything on the first go around and don't feel like you have to give the dealer any profit. He'ss get his profit from someone else on a new car sale. The bread and butter for a dealership is really used car sales and service anyway. why do you think EVERY car dealer has both of those on their lots?

Good luck.

jeckman,

My friends Tacoma DC holds my KTM 450 easily.Like Gilley has already stated,I wouldn't want a heavy street bike resting on that particular tail gate, though.

I guess it may be different in other parts of the country, but around here there is currently a $1000 rebate on Tacomas, and most dealerships sell at, or near invoice. Watch for dealer added fees, as they sometimes change. Another option would be to try www.carsdirect.com, they sell at something around invoice without haggling, although I've never used them.
