Default Traded in the Tundra for a Tacoma 4 door!

I feel like a ton of bricks has been lifted off of my shoulders. All of the brake issues, TSBs and strange vibrations took their toll on me. I went to just 'look" at the 4 door Tacomas and ended up driving home with one. It wasn't hard to "buy down". And the kids love the "real" rear doors with power windows. It is smaller up front but the rear has much more room. And yes, the bed is smaller but not for us that are weekend Home Depot warriors.

And you know what, it drives better than my Tundra. It feels tighter and more of a Toyota quality feel. I got a great deal on a 2003 TRD loaded...specifically $22K. It had Michelin tires and upgraded wheels. I also got them to throw in an over the rail bedliner and bug deflector too. I saw a lot of used Tundras at the dealership. I still am of the belief that they under engineered the Tundra. The chassis is just not up to the job, IMHO.

So now, I am going into the land of the Tacos.

Might want to change that handle then seeing as how you crossed over into the "small & wimpy" catergory, eh? You gunna supercharge it? v6's are SWEEEEET supercharged, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the V8, too.

At least you stayed "Toyota"! Too bad the Tundra didn't work out for you. I thought about the Tacoma back when I was trying to decide between the two. I drove a TRD double cab Tacoma and then the Tundra right after. The Tacoma was too stiff of a ride for me, and I worried about the bed space and payload too. Plus, it wasn't hard to stay with a V8 either, with rare exception, that's all I ever owned.

I hear you. I'm pleasantly surprised at the V6 though. Certainly not a V8 but not bad pick up for a V6. I like the better mileage too.

Tacomas still rock! But, methinks a name change to TacomaGA would be in store! Get some pics of it tho.

If you do nothing else - get the SC, and a posi, and ...
That 3.4L is a great engine, I've 177K on the one in my T100 - still strong.

Enjoy that little truck

Hope you enjoy your Tacoma! I used to have a '96 4x4 ext. cab and it was a great little truck. I just purchased my '03 Tundra this weekend, but was looking very hard at the 4 door Tacoma Prerunner. Since the price was so similar I decided to go with the v8 and stepside.
