Default First year of Taco's?

I am considering selling off my 97 Tahoe with 145k for an older taco or Toy truck (mid to late 90's) depending on availablity and price. Do any of you guys know when the last year of the Toy pickups were and the first year of the Tacoma? I am wanting to try to find an access cab 4x4 v6 for 4-7K with hopefully around 100k or under and should be able to buy it wholesale with people I know in the car business. Thanks for any feedback.

Default Thanks Glenn

Was that the same year they came out with the T100? I would love to have a Tundra but prefer the mileage from the v6 and the price as well. Did they make any with TRD package that early or did that come later? I am leaning towards a 4WD but might buy the right prerunner with limited slip. For current models it seems that all Tacomas with the TRD package have a limited slip but I wasn't sure if the older ones did.

Thanks
Mark

Almost forgot to ask when the first year of the double cab Tacoma was; I would really prefer one but need to stay at a $4-6K wholesale price. I kinda' doubt I can find one at that price range but needed to ask first. I know going into it that no Taco model will ever ride as smooth as the big Tahoe on the highway but I will drive it for a couple of years and sell it for a Tundra probably. Just depends on what changes are made and how I like the Tacoma after driving it for awhile. My wifes Camry will put my rear end to sleep but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Taco will do it.
