Default brake light stays on

anyone had problems with their dash brake light intermittantly going on and off? It seems to go on and off mostly when the clutch is engaged and then disengaged. This is on a 2000 Tacoma 4x4. I topped up the brake fluid just to make sure that wasn't it. Also tried disconnecting the wires to the e-brake. both didn't help. ideas?

try topping it off just a little bit more. I know of others who did this and the light went off.

Sometimes the hand brake can cause the brake light to come on as well.

On my 1995.5 Tacoma, the handbrake is located under and to the right side of the steering column. I suppose all Tacomas might be that way.

Turn and push all the way forward should help with that. I sometimes have to turn and push 2-3 times to get the brake light to stay off.

Glad to read the other post, Hmmm going to check the fluid level this morning.

Russ
