Hello everyone, My question is in regards to my owners manual. I have a 2003 Prerunner double cab with a towing package. My manual states that I can tow up to 6,000lbs. But looking on the internet and also on the Toyota's web site they say I can only tow up to 5000lbs. It also says that my GCWR is 10,000lbs but again on the internet and Toyota's web site says 9,000lbs. Please give me any feedback.
The manual may say 6k and your tacoma will tow it, but it will not tow in overdrive and will not tow very fast and it will be somewhat unstable. I used to have a 1996 tacoma extended cab and towed about 6k max for 15 miles each way. if you need to tow that much very often i would recomend a full size truck.
