1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "2003 Tundra oil change", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am wanting to change the oil in my "new to me" tundra. I am not sure where the drain plug is. The filter is very easy to access, but the location of the drain plug is a bit confusing. I see what appears to be the transmission plug near the center of the vehicle, is the drain plug near the front on the bottom of the oil pan? Thanks

http://www.toyotaownersonline.com/pu...ilter(New).pdf If ya have a 4x4 ya need to lube drivetrain also! I use Moly-Lithium on all fittings and Toyota said just to not use Lithium where it specifies Moly-Lithium!! but Moly-Lithium was ok on ALL!!
Thanks for the link HOGWILD. Mine looks similar. I am no mechanic, and I don't even like changing oil, but it saves me a few dollars. I knew where the oil plug was on my 1992 Toyota pickup. It was very easy to get to. I could go under the truck from the side and reach it. On the 2003 I am going to have to go under the front and look striaght up.
The oil drain plug would be at the back of the oil pan, nearest to the front of the truck. The transmission plug would be further back, towards the driveshaft. I drop my skid plate (5 bolts), then the oil and filter are very easy to change. No fuss, no muss...
Changed the oil this weekend. All went well. Did not have to remove the skid plate to get to the filter or drain plug. The filter did make mess when it came off though. For the shadetree's that think it's laughable to tell where drain plug is, they've never changed the oil on Toyota 1992 4-cylinder. It's in the same position that the transmission plug is on this 2003 engine.
