Check Engine Light Codes P0442/P0456

Hello Everyone,
New to the sight and need some information I own a 2003 Tundra Limited 4x4. A week ago I got the Check Engine light and borrowed a tester from a friend and got a p0442 and p0456 along with the words emission leak (very small). I cleared them to see what would happen and a couple of days later the light is back with the same codes. I have an appointment with the dealer on thursday the 5th of July and don't want to get taken too bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are lucky the problem will be the fuel cap. I would change it, reset the code and see if it comes back.

Mine had something similar but the whole charcoal canister had to be replaced under warranty.

Myself and others have posted extensively on this. Check in the engine section. More than likely, it is the result of the faulty fuel fill tube. Most have had good luck just replacing the oring on the fuel cap. The root cause is improper manufacturing of the fill tube.

Thank You all but I thought there was a TSB out there for the filler tube I am wondering if it is true and where I can find the # so I can ask the dealer on thursday. I have heard charcoal cannisters are very expensive is it feasible to change it myself or just bite the bullet and pay for it if it is the problem.

I don't have the TSB number and it won't matter anyway unless you have the extended factory warranty.

The tube assembly can be had for about $120 (shop around) and it's a piece of cake to install.

I had these codes come up and it was because of a disconnected hose from the canister. Reconnected, cleared the codes and it never came back. If the others suggestions don't work, check all the hose to make sure they are connected.

I did buy a new cap today and put it on and one thing I noticed is the new one I can click it more then once. After I put it on and the old one it would click only once and not turn anymore but Iam sure it was always that way. I have reset the codes they are gone for now. I am going out to check the canister now. I also used tried to leak check as many vacum lines as I could find with soap and a spray bottle found nothing will keep everyone posted on what happens.

Another question were is the cannister located? I thought it was right behind the battery but no dice I followed all the vacuum lines back to the gas tank I must be going blind. Please advise.

Awesome information were did you find that at? I have been googling for about 12 hours and finally gave up and threw it out to this websight. I would have looked for days to find that cannister. Are there other places I can go to get more info on other systems for my 2003 Tundra.

This links to an entire manual set for an 03 Tundra. Who owns this material and are manuals available for other years or other vehicles? I happpen to own the hard copy for the 03 Tundra but have nothing for my wife's 04 4Runner.

I also just found out that I have the P0442/P0456 codes, is there any new information out there yet?

I have a 2003 extended cab 4.7L
