Default Seat Height Adjustment Problem on 06 AC

I already did some searching but it seems many that have seat problems was from clicking into position. Mine is different.

I'm not sure if 2004/older Tundra's have height adjustment capability on their trucks, but mine has two levers on the drivers seat. One is to adjust the reclining part of the seat (works fine) but the other, which I believe is a height adjustment of the lower seat (for shorter persons) is malfunctioning in a big way. I can move my seat and it will not stay in a certain position. It seems no matter how much I pump this lever up or down, it does not make a difference. The seat will go all the way down when I sit on it, but when I get out, the seat moves back up about an inch or so on its own.

Anyone else have similar problems? I'd really hate to take it to the dealership. I barely have time as is.

hooks under drivers seat? <-- Dibbles post shows part of what I'm talking about. My seat returns to this position when I get out. It never stays down.

I'm wondering if that ratcheting mechanism became disconnected.

Manual Driver Seat Heighth Adjustment <-- Another person that had the same problem as me.

When I adjust my seat up, my seat seems to want to go back down, over time that is. But the ratcheting mechanism does work. My suggestion would be to bring it to the dealership. After all, it still is under warranty, no?

I still have the warranty, I'd rather not bring it there. Some of the dealership tech's have as much brains as the people that scrub public toilets. The only difference is one makes alot more money than the other.

I'll probly try to fix it on my own and report back. There's only 4 bolts that hold the seats in anyway. Piece of cake to take it out and investigate. Just wanted to see if anyone else out there knew exactly what the problem was. There's nothing the dealer can fix that I can't if it's something on the seat.

Well, I took a look at the problem and I don't mean to brag, but as I stated, there wasn't anything I couldn't fix that the dealer couldn't. And it didn't even cost me a penny.

First off, about a month ago, I recall seeing this metal piece that I'd never seen before. It was laying on the carpet when I was vacuuming my truck. Not knowing what it was, I just threw it in my center console. Usually I'd have that mother mentality and just throw it in the garbage but ironically it was good I didn't.

For anyone that has the manual height adjustment lever on the Tundra, there's two of these metal pins that are connected to a flat bar with two holes on it. This bar is what moves the seat up and down and it's connected directly to that lever. These pins act like cotter pins to keep the bar in place. Simply make sure you have both pins on the bars and the seat works fine.

Attached is a quick photoshop of the pin. Took me 20 minutes to do, and instead of waiting at a dealership, while drinking the nasty old coffee and stuck watching Oprah, I enjoyed a ice cold beer in my own home.

I really wish more people would tinker with their trucks instead of just taking it to the dealership. Like I said, some of these tech's at dealers aren't even common sense smart. God only knows what they would have done to my truck trying to figure it out. And all it was is this stupid pin.

The irony of the 53hp+ Mustang K&N ad in your thread is beyond me.

That's great you fixed this yourself. You are right about one thing in that the dealship techs seem to be the most misinformed in the building. They often start addressing the problem like a caveman sitting around a computer (think Zoolander here). I hate explaining my problem over the phone to some desk jockey. They never relay the info correctly anyways.
