Has anyone else purchased the toyota 7yr/ 100k w/ 0 deductible warranty form Kim Free? I called her on Saturday, 2/08/2003 and she gave me a quote for $930.00. I was curious about the price because another thread post stated they bought it for $760.00. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
The quote I got (765) was for the 6/100,000 $0 ded toyota warranty. I did not get a price on the others as I know I will have over 100,000 miles prior to the 5 year mark. I didn't realize the 7 year was that much more, did you tell her you saw it here and maybe my name. I have talked to her a couple times, she said I could refer people to her from "my little club" her words. I don't think anyone else has bought from her. Her counterpart sells the honda odyssey club the extended warranty to many members without problems. thanks again. todd
I would strongly reommend the extended warranty. I have a 2000 SR5 4X4 with 92,000 miles. Transmission just went on me and it has taken Toyota 4 weeks to tell me they MAY have one coming in next week. Spending a bundle on rental vehicle so I can keep working. Toyota could care less, they have been a real disappointment. But I still love my Tundra. Has anyone else had transmission problems?
I was talking with a guy last summer who came in to our office to do some plumbing work and he stated that he had to have the transmission replaced at around 90k miles. Toyota wanted $4,000 to do this BTW. He had it rebuilt for around $2,000. I don't like the sound of that.
I bought the 75K mile warranty only because if I don't use it I get my $1500 back. Only 15K to go and I'll see what happens when I try and collect my $1500.
Moderators Note: This is an old thread that has been brought back to life. Some of the information posted is over a year old and may have outdated replies. Just thought I would bring this to your attention.

I have not got one, just a gamble but I have bought 5 new Toyotas starting in 1981 and put 150000 to 200000 miles on them before trade and have a 1989 truck with 220900 miles and a 1999 camery with 78000 miles and would not have been able to use a extended warrernty on any of them. Even if I lose this time and have to pay for a breakdown I figure I am still ahead. only 7400 miles on the Tundra so it remains to be seen.

Nice of you to give Toyota the use of your $1500. I hope you didn't add that to your financing.
I negotiated the 8/80K for half price (about $550). Did it for peace of mind and because i'm heading for snow and altitude in a couple of years, and I want the 4X4 to be covered. One writer is correct, I think we do it for security though if you add up the warren cost Vs repair cost, for a Toy, you "usually" spent too much on the warren. I bought aftermarket wareentees on our 98 ML 320 and 96 C220 mercs and have had to use both. The are a pain, but have worked to my benefit.
Other bennies include transferability, and bumper to bumper Toy dealer service. Good luck to all.

Even the F&I person at my dealership said in her schpeel, "I have to offer you this warranty although this being a Toyota you will most likely never need it".
Have owned a bunch....and except for my 1985 Truck that had add on AC (Clardy) I never had a problem.
I bought my truck used with 13k miles, and got the warranty because I was told that it will be refunded if it's never used. I figured it was a safe bet. Besides, that was a year ago, and I've only put 10k miles on it. Should be safe until the Toyota factory ends.

EVERYONE needs a long warranty, it shows confidence NOT that you NEED it. If the thing you make IS so great, then it will not cost you anything now will it?? )
Toy. is just cheap and don't need it as a marketing device, but Toys need it as much as any other brand!!

I disagree. Your major components are already covered for 60,000 miles anyway. All you are buying is coverage for things like AC. electrical etc...
Toyota already has put their money where their mouth is in terms of a free extended warranty on powertrain.
The extended warranty, or rather, service contract, is to cover the drivetrain beyond the 60k. Other components, which means the several computers, the brakes, and others, get the extra coverage between 36k to 100k.
My main concern is the oxygen sensors. They tend to fail often on newer cars, replacement cost is around $200 a pop.
Granted, we probably don't need the service contract, but it's nice to have. Think of it as insurance: don't you buy car insurance every year, but hardly, if ever use it?
