1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Toyota Extended Warranty (Platinum Plus)", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
PS... I did have problems with getting my transmission fixed as the policy I had was with 1st extended service company... (The Toyota dealership sold this to me without me knowing they did the swap from Toyota factory service plan)... They took 11 days to approve the repairs so I had to foot the bill for the rental car for 10 days myself. My new Toyota dealer said that my problem is common with the aftermarket policies. All of them take time to approve coverage, while the Toyota plan is all done in-house. I suggest you make sure to get the Toyota service plan.
Just a happy camper that I purchased the extended service through Troy at Greenfield. A heater control replacement and MAF sensor replacement last year it nearly broke even on what I paid for the service contract .....as of today I'm way ahead of the game.....transmission being replaced as I type......
Thanks again Troy
I am covered for 6 year/160,000km whichever comes first.
So far, I have used the tire repair program, 3 free oil changes (I think they now offer four oil changes). Roadside assisance twice (locking keys in car/flat tire).
Just bought a used certified 03 Tundra with TRD from a Toyota dealer. Almost got the extended warranty ...but didn't.
Question: Is there a way to find out if the truck already has an extended warranty (if the previous owner purchased it)? The dealer told me that that standard warranty had already expired but cannot tell me if there is an extended warranty.

If it did....it would have had to have been transferred at the resale of the vehicle from the original service plan purchaser for $50 IIRC
Be careful on this one though. I paid almost $1200 for the extended warranty package on my Tundra and when I tried to take the vehicle in for repairs, the dealership would not honor it. They said the salesman must not have processed the paperwork properly. It didn't matter that I had the sales documents showing it was purchased. I was told it was too late to do anything. That was almost 2 years ago and still have no resolution. Basically, it's $1200 that I lost. They will not reimburse me or honor the warranty. Ended up with a $600 repair bill that should have been covered by the warranty. The warranty itself seems like a good deal. Just remember to follow up and make sure everything gets processed correctly!

Was this a factory warranty or aftermarket? When I bought my Sequoia the dealer (SET) was only offering one through JMA, I wanted the one through Toyota Financial so bought it from a different dealer. My friend had the same issue when he bought his used Suburban. He paid like $1500 for one that was administered through Warranty Gold. They went bankrupt (but were still selling new ones, while not honoring the old ones ) He found out about the bankruptcy after I told him. When he called to check there was no record of it with the company. He went back to dealer as he had work that needed to be done armed with all the info. The dealer checked and they ALSO screwed up the paperwork and never sent it in. Fortuantely his dealer was stand up and covered the $3500 worth of repairs since he had all the paperwork.

If that's truly the case then you should file a complaint with the DMV in your state. It's the dealerships responsibility to file all the necessary paperwork included with the sale of the vehicle to you. This includes the extended warranty. Apparently they failed to do this and as a result you have a complaint against them.

I bought the Platinum extended "inusrance" plan. Their price was half the purchasing dealership's (AutoNation) price and better than my credit union's price with better coverage. The way I read it they cover everything except trim pieces and normal wear and tear. Troy was great to work with and did ALL that he promised to do!!

I too bought my Toyota 7yr/100K Platinum Care Warranty from Troy. It was only $990. The local dealer was about $2300. Prices might have went up since June, but he has the best prices by far....

I have a 04 Tundra Double Cab Limited.....with 28,000 miles. We are a Toyota household with many Tacomas, and now our third Prius. I've been thinking about purchasing an extended warrantee but my third year anniversary was January 21, and I think it's to late. Or not? Any advice on good aftermarket warranty?

That's how much a local dealer will charge if you don't complain about the price. I told mine when I bought it that i could get it cheaper elsewhere and I only paid $1000 at my dealer, and financed it.
When I first started reading this thread, some time ago, I felt sick that I had paid $2200.00 for mine.
But after the plat warrenty paid for new window tracks, and other misc interior stuff.
RR seals, bearings, ABS sensor and both RR and LR brake pad replacement
ABS sensor and speed sensor replacement
torque converter and transmission at 96K
I no longer feel so cheated, I know that the price could have been way better and I fell for the CON, yet somehow it is OK after the costs I've avoided.
