Default 2001 v8 fan clutch = loud?

My fan clutch didn't seem to be working up to par anymore...so I ordered the listed Hayden fan clutch for it. Its a 2001 v8.

With the toyota clutch (i dunno how long it wasn't working well) the fan would only spin on high speed when I first started it up and lasted for maybe 10 seconds. Never heard it go fast again, when when the engine got pretty hot.

With the Hayden clutch, the fan spins fast and loud until I get going about 40 mph the first time, then it kicks to low. When I come to a light and stop after that, it will spin up fast again as I accelerate through first gear, then will kick to low.

Is the original toyota fan like this as well????? when its working right.....don't wanna return it and spend $125 on the toyota one to find its the same way.

That was the first thing I noticed when I bought my tundra. I hate that sound. After I installed my cold air intake, I could no longer hear that noise. Even if the CAI doesnt give me performance atleast it sounds better than that noisy fan. Oh and that sound is a ver common thing on toyotas. I have noticed the fan on my buddies tacomas, and older trucks too. I hope this helps. Just dont let it over heat.

The Hayden fan hub sounds like a centrifugal controlled unit whereas the Tundra unit is controlled with a bi-metal temp sensitive plate into a vicious fluid engagement hub. It should only engage when the incoming air to the hub off the radiator reaches a preset temp or when the engine is first started. The Hayden must dis-engage when it feels the engine rpm is high enough to indicate highway speed for cooling air.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
Some people should not be allowed access to tools without books!!!
