What is the minimum tint level

I currently live in Texas and I am planning on getting my tail lights smoked. I have all of the paint and gloss that I need. I was planning on smoking both tail lights and the third brake light.
Does anyone know what the maximum tint level I can have my tail lights smoked to in Texas. I know that in Texas the AVS black covers are illegal, but I am wondering if I tint them to half of that, I might be ok? Thanks

Go to your local DMV and request a copy of the vehicle code laws. It should have the specifics.

My best educated guess is any modification to your exterior lighting that will hinder visibility in anyway would be deemed illegal. Just a guess.
