Default Moving up a tire size...

Hello everyone,
This is my first post on a very interesting forum. I just bought my new used Tundra 01 4x4 SR5 A/C 110K miles and I'm very happy to join this gang!

I have a quick question on a tire size upgrade. I'm currently rolling on 265/70R16 with Toyota alloy rims. Will a 265/75R16 give me any trouble?

Thank you in advance.

think you have allready moved up a tire size! truck came with 265/65/16 so i think 70's would cause an issue ? call these guys and ask a tech The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels they will answer all questions and no pressure to buy anything!

The 265/70R16s are the factory size. I bought my Tundra used with 265/75R16s on it and had absolutely no problems at all. Your speedo and odo variances will be negligible so I wouldn't even worry about it.

My '03 came with 265/70/16's. I bought a set of American Racing rims and some Fuzion XTi's, size 265/75/16. I had to cut my mud guards away a little on the inside to keep from rubbing but other than that no problems. Did notice a drop in MPG.....and yes that is after figuring in the difference of tire size vs. distance traveled. I also notice gear shifting differences. Ohhh well.

i think your rubbing was from the aftermarket wheels due to their Backspacing. You shouldn't have any problems with 265/75s

You shouldn't have any problems w/ 265/75/16's, however each tire has different dimensions. An increase to 265/75/16's will however result in your speedo/odo being off by 3.4%. A good solution to this is Superlift's Tru-Speed calibrator TruSpeed™ Speed Sensor Recalibrator · Superlift · www.superlift.com installed it on my 03 and works great

I have 265 75 16 Revos on my truck with no rubbing or clearance problems. My speedo does read about 3-4 mph less than I am actually going. As someone mentioned above different brands and models of tires may have slightly different dimensions though even though they are 265 75 16s but I don't think you should have any problem though, as I said mine are fine and I have not really heard of anyone else on this board having any problems going with the 265 75 16 tires on the stock Toyota wheels.
