Default Weirdness with the front inner CV's....?

I had a small ammount of grease leaking out of the pass side inner CV boot...(geeez.....ya think it could've lasted more than a 100000 miles? )
Anyways.....I replaced the band clamps with some good hose clamps as recommended by others on this site.....pretty easy fix for a minor problem. The weirdness is both inner CV's...where they attach to the front diff seem to have a lot of play in them...they almost seem loose! Has anyone else noticed this.....should I dig deeper into it or ignore it?
And yes...my truck has almost 100K miles on it and this is the first leak of any kind....pretty good, eh?

Nope, that's normal...the joints need lateral play, they move around a little when the suspension cycles. I thought my truck was busted too when I first noticed it .

Weird......I thought all drive train parts were more solid than that.....BUT.....this is sure a lot easier that taking it apart!

I didn't completely like the way the new hose clamps went on.....I used 2, 2inch clamps on each (as was suggested here)...I thought they had too much extra clamp hanging out so I trimmed them down to fit without the extra. I think I'll look online for a one piece clamp about 1/4 inch wide that'll wrap around something about 3 inches in diameter.

I always wondered if a really heavy duty Zip Tie might work.

Zip tie might work.........a nice 1/4 inch wide, steel reenforced one...that might do it!
I thought about using stainless safety tie wire....but it would cut thru the rubber boot.
I am researching "hose clamps" for us, So far the best offeringings are band clamps.....very simular to what was there stock.... and I don't feel like buying the plier to use it twice,,,,
I gotta go to the old VW boards and see if anyone there remembers the IFS axle rebuild kits from way back.....they had boots that you could put on without disassasenbling the axle (had a whole lot of little "bolts" on the top seam) and they had really good "hose type clamps" that worked great.
If I can find out where we can get those.......

Hi. I found these. 5/16" wide is only 1/16" wider than 1/4" so that would probably fit into the groove on the CV boot perfectly. I just need to figure out how to order them....

Here is the link....

the reason for two clamps might be to balance the assembly, two screws opposite each other rather just one screw
