1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Newb with question", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Greetings everyone. New to the forum. My 2000 Tundra has exhaust leak-sound when cold that comes from the engine compartment. I first thought it was the exhaust manifold but after further investigation it is not. It seems to be coming from the back of the engine compartment, possibly underneath the intake manifold. I'm curious to hear if this is something common or if anyone has any advice. Thanks in advance!

Check for a leak where the Y-pipe connects to the manifold.
All a man really needs for happiness in this world is a good woman, a faithful dog, and a big-a$$ed set of tires on his truck.

Does the sound seem like it might be a slight knock inside the block? The 03 and older (i think) engines are notorious for piston slap on cold mornings. Mine has done it since it was new, and now at 90k, i have had no problems as a result. Just a thought...
