so ive been researching my header and exhaust choices while i make some more cash to buy the ones i want. Im pretty sure im going to go with the xs-headers i noticed they come with a Y pipe, im wondering if i dont install the Y pipe will my planned flowmaster 40 duals connect correctly. i wouldnt want to end up with the wrong length of pipe

the headers should bolt up to your stock y pipe, from what people have said, dont worry about their y pipe as its nothing special. If you have your flowmasters put on by a shop, they will weld everything and know what to do

ok, the headers will bolt up to the Y pipe. With true duals, the shop would make an X or H pipe after they cut the Y pipe off right before it goes into a single pipe where they will attach either the H or X pipe. So you wouldnt have the issue of headers bolting up.

Unless you go to a muffler shop, most all dual exhaust kits go straight out the rear. One exception, Gibson Dual Extreme does go out behind each of the rear wheels. Sounds good on my truck, but I'm attached to it.

BUT, if your plan is to do true duals without the Y-pipe, you will need to find a good muffler shop to do the work.
