1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "My baby got some new shoes today", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Well the stock bridgestone duelers were wearing fast plus they'd developed a vibration indicating that a belt had slipped so it was time to replace them. I ended up getting 4 goodyear fortera tripletreds from the goodyear store and they price matched sears which was over $200 cheaper. My vibration is gone and my truck feels much better now. I'm hopeful that they'll hold up well over the long haul and if they do I'll keep using them on this truck. I will say that they've got some impressive tread depth on them, super meaty compared to the stockers.

A REAL truck.
The fortera's are a really good tire, long lasting, just not really good in the snow. I just put Cooper Discoverer ATR's on my baby and I love them. We had 6" of wet snow the other day, and these things rocked!! I can't wait for the real snow to start falling, I'm looking forward to testing them on my commute in 12 - 24"s of the white stuff!

My priority was wet weather handling as I live in FL and there's a lot of standing water on the highways I drive on. These tires also handle well on the dry highway and I drive aggressively so that was important as well. This was the tire that best suited my needs but remember different strokes for different folks. Keep it civil unlike the other tire thread where people have resorted to personal attacks.

Oh, I agree make a hell of a tire, especially in dry or rainy conditions. Goodyear would not be where they are today by making crap. I hope they serve you well, please keep us posted as the (good)years roll on.

Good luck with the Fortera Triple Treads, I have the passenger version of Triple Tread on 2 RWD cars and love them, one has 50K plus and they will run another 20K at least, can't beat the ride and handling. I also changed the OE BFGs that came on my 07 Tundra for the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour, ride nice, quiet and good tread pattern for mild off road, I expect the same great winter traction from them that I got from the Goodyear Wranglers that I had on my 05 Avalanche which was my trade in on the Tundra. Enjoy the new shoes.
Pufnstuff, if you don't mind me asking, how many miles did you get out of your B-Stones? I've got 28K on mine and they're wearing faster than I would like, thinking of going with different brand when time comes. Are your GoodYears as quiet as the B-Stones? Looking for long life and quietest ride.
I had just over 16k on them and abe's head was exposed on the wear bars. The forteras are quieter than the stock 840's and feel a hell of a lot better.

Thanks.
If you talking about the stock Bridgestone Dueler HT's, I have 27k on mine and they still look fine. Figuring at least another 10k till the wear bars show, maybe 15. Usually rotate them every 6k or so, keep pressure up around 30. Down the road, I'd be looking for a tire that will do well in the wet and give good mileage, in VA we don't get that much snow here.
The original tires are completely useless. Turn a corner at anything other than snail speed and they wail and moan in complaint. Poor in rain and snow too.

Geeze i must have got a good pair of B-Stones HT's...Just at 53k and their still looking good but will replace in next few miles due to winter coming on.
Can't make up my mine at this point. Any suggestions?
