I have a 2004 Tundra 2WD Access Cab 4.7 V8, and everytime I step on the brakes, I hear this clicking sound coming from under the steering wheel. As if it was coming from the fuse box. Any idea on what it is?
Maybe it's the auto trans shifter unlocking thingy. Some car manufacters make it so you have to press and hold the brake pedal in order to put the trans in gear. Sometimes I have to press the brake pedal hard in order to move the shifter and when I hear that clicking sound I was able to shift into gear.

Brake light contact from pedal being pushed? there could be a relay under there. Does it only click once or many times?
Just once when I brake, cant make it out, dont want to take it dealer so they can charge me a arm and leg, everything seems fine though(brakes, lights), nothing bad is happening, but just kind of annoying since I just bought the truck,.so yeah, one click everytime I break.
Could it be the flasher relay? Turn on flasher to see if the flasher makes multiples of the same sound. May have short between brake light and flasher circuit.
I am reviving this thread to see if anyone has figured out what the problem might be.
My truck makes the same "click" intermittently when the brake pedal is pressed. I have checked the lights and all are functional. I will inspect further this weekend if no one knows the culprit.
Throw me into the group that has this happen. Press the brake...one click!
No issues with braking, just been curious what it is. When things come up with my wife's jeep, we laugh that the Jeep community calls it a "Jeep thing". Basically, it's them covering up for how many things are wrong with it. Anyway, I've actually adopted this statement and written this off to be a Toyota thing"
It is definatly a switch making the noise cause I had brought mine in for the same noise. I forgot the exact name of the switch, but that is what it is.

My Tundra does it also.....except only when it is cold (Under 70 degrees or so) Have taken it to several shops...they say it could be everything from a bad booster, to a brake light switch, to bad calipers. Personally, I think that the push rod needs some lube on the ends, but it is hard for my old bones to reach under the dash....what do you think??
