Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
if you call the company they will put on the phone the master mind of this item.
just make sure when you call the company you have a full tank of gas.
it will be a perfect set up, than.
thats what i did, when i called him, he told me to call him back when my tank was full. which i did and within 5 minutes or less. it was all done.
your gone a love it for sure.
might want to dyno your truck to make sure the hp #'s are correct. i had to lower mine. i was getting a high # which i loved, but it was fake. so i wanted a real #. so i learned how to adjust it. so my #'s are at 326ish now.
thats engine Hp/or brake, flywheel hp not rear wheel.
hope it helps, thanks for the kind comments.
it helps

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
I'm not expecting the tranny to blow up - I just like to keep an eye on these things. In any case the Sequoia has an A/T Warning light that's designed to come on when the fluid starts to get too hot.
As for coolers, I agree - I don't think you can overcool a tranny so the bigger the better. There's one on it now and we'll have to see how it does this camping season.
Gee, if only the Scangauge II had a tranny temp gauge function, I could monitor it that way...
Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
i would check ebay for the other types. and call those companys and ask them if they have the tranny temp guage that works with the toyota tundra/sequoia?
and i would even go as far as this. why don't you see if the 5.7 tranny coolor would fit. since it is a much larger engine and tranny. it should have a much larger tranny cooler. if it does somehow fit.
WOW, i'm sure now more than ever before you would be able to tow cross country without a issue.
now the other types of scanguages that i have seen can get expensive. if i remember correctly, they went as far as 500.
but before i would spend that much on 1, i would see if the 5.7 cooler or any other type would be worth it's weight in gold. by keeping your tranny so cool, it would never ever be a issue.
just a thought.
good luck on your search

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
Guess what I got today?
I think this weekend I'll do hispeed's mount idea. Looks like the best option for ease of view and so forth.
I agree with USAFTUNDRA, so simple. And the HP XGauge add-a-gauge was a piece o'cake. Took me a whole 20 seconds. That's a lie. It was more like 35
Thanks for the great threads on the ScanGaugeII everyone.
Anyone add all those O2 sensor ports on the add-a-gauge? Seems unecessary for 8 new ports to add.

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
hi, i mounted mine right on top of my steering column.
and ran the wire through the steering column and under the dash. so you don't see any wire.
the scan guage is long and wide & not high, so there is no restriction of the guages. and it's so easy to use this way. it's just like looking at the guages. many installed them down below, but for you to look at it your looking down , eye's off the road. so that wasn't a option for me. just my opinion.

Are you able to get transmission temperature to read out on your Scangauge II? I emailed the company with that question about my '06 (as well as how many cords I'd need for our 4 vehicles) and never heard back. Tranny temp is one reason I'd buy the Scangauge for sure (not to mention code reading on the 4 vehicles in our family).
Thanks for the great post and any info on tranny temp.
Fred
I sent Scangauge an email for the same question. NO ANSWER. Thanks for letting us know that it won't do the transmission temp.
Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
I haven't seen a code made for the xgauge add-a-gauge for transmission temp. They'd probably post an update on their website once it comes out, if it comes out.

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
Hey I got a quick question I just ordered mine the other day should be here soon, but my question is that I put larger tires on my truck and have yet to calibrate the speedometer, is the scan gauge going to give me false readings or does it some how calcualte from different measures

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
hi, my suggestion is for you to contact the company directly, for that question. there might be something for you to do. or since it read's, exactly what the obd2 port reading are, it should be dead on.
i have 20" tire's and rim's and my scan guage is dead on.
the only thing that needed to be adjusted is the HP. that was way off, from my dyno.
it was reading 377HP but my dyno was 326HP off by 51HP less than what it was showing me, so i wanted it to be dead on or as close as i could get it to the real #.
all other reading's were good enough.
