bjd411, don't call the company. Read the manual. It tells you exactly how to change the speedo readout on pages 16, 17, & 18. It will not change what the truck says on the dash cluster, but it will change what the Scangauge says on the MPH gauge.

If you don't understand it after reading the manual twice, post up here, and I'll help explain it to you the best I can. You'll need to know your stock tire size, the currrent tire size, and you should use a GPS if you can get your hands on one.

I may be wrong but the Scan was giving you the HP from the engine and the dyno was from the wheels which was probably correct in both cases.

Hey thanks, I got anxious and went on their web page and looked at the directions and was able to calculate that mine is a aprx 7% difference.

Displaying Horsepower as a Gauge

You can have Horsepower read out on your ScanGauge as you drive.

* To start, from the HOME screen use MORE>MORE>MORE>XGAUGE
* Then in the top right select the number of the XGauge memory you want to use (0 to 24)
* Next <EDIT this will take you to the TXD screen
* Using the buttons next to + and - after each character the -> in the top right will move to the next character space.
* Enter 00 into the TXD screen and press OK> You will be taken to RXF
* Enter 400080000000 and press OK> you will be take to RXD
* Enter 0000 and press OK> you will be taken to MTH (math)
* Enter 000A00170000 and press OK> you will be taken to NAME
* You can enter whatever name you would like up to 3 characters, when you are finished press OK>
* Lastly press SAVE.

Now you can select your new gauge just like any other one. From the home screen, press GAUGE press the button next to the gauge you want to use for the XGauge. Keep pressing as needed until your newly created XGauge name appears.

I just used your idea, to use the speaker stand, for my XM Roady XT. I attached to the ash tray, then I took apart the vent stand that came with the Roady and attached to the end of the speaker stand. Very easy to do.... Thanks for the idea.

Another way to install it for the later models with a full center console and real easy for DC owners is this.....

I ran the wire behind and through the back if the black center piece you see here. I then attached the SG using velcro. Be sure and use velcro with STORONG sticky, or it will come off...LOL

indeed true.
that's why mine is mounted just above the left vent. perfect driving view (for me). buttons aren't the easiet things to push in that spot though. but you shouldn't be pushing buttons when you're driving anyways!

After checking out all of the various installation methods I decided to do a temporary install / test placement at the top of the windshield. I'd actually hoped to put it behind the black-out treatment around the mirror but the signal cable wasn't long enough. Anyway, I've ended up leaving it there as it's easy to see and use (except when the sun visor's down) and keeps the road ahead in your field of vision... which is a good thing. My GPS is mounted to a slightly modified slide-out cup-holder and I've caught myself messing around with it when I should have been watching the road. I've now delegated GPS management to my lovely co-pilot.

Sorry to interject a reply after every post

But, if the unit is placed on the dash or window it can get very hot. The display gets distorted at 130F (maybe 120-140, I forget). You can tell when touching it, the unit gets super hot in a parked truck's dash. I'm looking to cover the back of mine with a piece of aluminum, coated gray to match the dash.

I love the look of mounting it on the top of the windshield though. Really a good idea for hiding all the wiring.

True... and it's also hidden when ever the sun visor is down. As I said, this was the quick and dirty installation. If I can find the time to locate a female/female RJ45 in-line connector and 3' jumper cable I'll probably move it to the emty cavity behind the overhead console blank... right where the Sequoia's trip computer is located.

With the blank cover off, it's a very nice and finished looking cavity that's sized just right for the SGII and it puts it in a nice, central location.

If I can find that connector I'll finish the installation and post revised photos.
