Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
Got the new tool/toy this past week and after looking around decided to install simply and easily inside the dash/gauge area.
I did not really like the mount on the steering column... too much obstructed visibility to the other gauges. I do like the rear view mirror idea and may end up there but then I discovered this spot. I found a small bracket that I could bend to the perfect angle.

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
So I stumbled upon a news article about the Scangauge II the other week and didn't realize it was popular on this forum.
So since many ppl have it now, what are your comments about the product? Reccomend it? Worth the $150? What has it done for your vehicle (ie: what type of data has it shown)?

Right now I can't really say it is worth $160.00 (which is what I paid). But then, I just installed mine. It is more like a fun toy. It does read a lot of information regarding the engine which for diagnostics purposes is nice. If it saves me one trip to the dealer because it can decipher and reset codes, then it will be worth every penny, especially if I can fix the problem myself. That was my main reason for buying one, besides seeing how I drive. I do like the fuel consumption gauge and use that one constantly. Hopefully I will improve my driving habits to obtain slightly better mileage. Even saving a small amount over a long period of time would be helpful.
And, who knows, I may be able to help someone else diagnose a code on their vehicle which could save someone else money.

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
hi i love it, it has alot of useful info.
and
re-setting the code's is a plus.
also it has the X guage which i use for engine/flywheel horse power.
like it was already mentioned, it can help you save gas.
infom you of many thing's going on, such as intake air temp,
antifreeze temp, closed loop open loop, rpm's, speed, etc.
what i would do is 3 thing's
look at ebay, they have alot of info on the product,
look at there web site,
& finally read what has been posted here.
the only issue we are all waiting for is the tranny temp. it doesn't have it
make sure you buy the 3.15 version with the X-guage.
good luck,
gorilla
Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
If anyone missed out on the group buy, you can still purchase the product through the company directly (ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool) at the same price listed in the group buy which was for $149.95 by giving them a call. The customer service at Linear-Logic was great and the people there were very friendly. I was interested in purchasing the product but missed out on the group buy so I searched on Yahoo to see if there were any other group buys going on for the Scangauge II unit and found ScanGauge II - Sale - Group Buy Today. But that website didn't have much information on who they were and where my money was being sent to since there was only a link to thier Paypal account, so I called Linear-Logic to verify if that site was an authorized retailer of thier product and they said no, however they were willing to match thier price of $149.95 with priority shipping....and so I bought it through them right over the phone!

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
Got mine last night and installed it today while at work. I put mine
on the dash next to the Sirius Satellite radio I installed about four
years ago. I was able to use the same hole I had drilled in the dash
for the wiring for the Sirius to run the cable for the Scangauge.
Yes, I said hole. I don't plan on selling this truck or even trading it in.
I'll keep it until it falls apart on me, however long that may be, so
drilling a small hole to be able to hide the wiring was an option. Hopefully
the picture uploads.

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
hi,the hole isn't a big deal.
they make a vinyl liquid that will fill in the hole.
or just buy a dash mat.
a simple 1, don't add anything that will make the guy/girl want to take it off ever.
i know you said you ever would sell it, we all have said that at 1 time or another.
but ended up selling whatever it was.
most likely you will want all those gadget's for your new ride ,when the time come's.

Hi everyone,
I don't meant to hijack this treat but here is my story: I order the scanguage II two days before this thread started and so far i have read some really good info about it, i received my scanner tonight and i got in the truck and hook it up and did all the setup need it and all of a sudden it hit me where am i going to mount it? so i was wondering if you guys can post some pics of where you mount it yours so that i can get an idea, i though about a couple of places but the gauge will get on the way of other guages.
Like i said i do not mean to hijack this thread but since most of the scanguage owners are participating on this thread i figure why start a new one and beat the horse with the same stick.
thanks again for your help.

Re: Scangauge II Install (so easy a caveman could do it)
hi, mine is mounted on top of the steering column.
the wire is fed through the steering column & down to the obd2 port.
all tucked away.
i used a wire hanger with tape, to feed the wire harness through.
after that ,you need to input your info, such as: 26 gallons tank, V8, 4.7l, etc.
&
there a long code for the X-gauge for use of horse power, as 1 of the gauges.
yes, it is simple to install, but the inputtting of info might give you a headache.
also as per the company, it is best to start out on a full tank of gas.
