1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Toyota Stages World Premiere of All-New Tundra 'Big Rig' Double Cab Pickup at Chicago", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I didn't think Toyota released any true photos yet. I believe there is a show in February (Chicago?) that is supposed to be where toyota announces the truck but i'm not really sure on that either. I'm in the market for a new truck and have been waiting to check out the 04 crew cab but unless some information gets released soon i may have to go with the Silverado. I have kids and there just isn't enough room in the current ext cab. I will wait a bit longer for the 04 crew cab info but i don't want to miss out on the current interest rates and incentives either. Catch 22 i guess.
I've talked with the salesman the other day that i bought my 00 Tundra from and he said it's still up in the air when they will introduce the 04 4 door.
Anyone else heard anything on it.?
Motortrend puts out a mag called trucktrend. The issue i saw on the stands now has a more revised (yet still camoflauged) version of the four door tundra in front of a un-camoed truck the editor says might be a seqouia sut, sense it had the bumber and other accents of the seqouia but was in 4 door avalange style. Not sure if the mag was jan or dec most likley jan sense i saw it just the other day. Im a college student and was broke or i would have bought it and scanned it. The article i think said teh release date would be late summer early fall.Sorry hope it helps.
I think I just figured out why Toyota keeps all their vehicles top secret. I mean, everyone knows that there is a 4 door Tundra, it's the question of when will it arrive. So now I believe Toyota keeps these issues secretive so that the consumers will not be pressured into waiting for the 2004 model and just buy the latest model. This way Toyota sales remain constant. I say, the hell with their stratagey and lets all buy 4 door Chevys!
Personally I think that Toyota should release the information, that way people thinking of buy a 4 door truck might wait for the Toyota version before buying Toyota's product. Example: A coworker came up and asked me about my Tundra and that he was interested in buying the 4 door version. I told him that there was no 4 door version and may never be one. A week later, I saw him driving a 4 door Ford F150.
I can say at leats for me, I will never buy another Chevy again. I traded in my 2000 Chevy for my current 2001 Tundra. The Chevy had more problems than a than the US has with Iraq. If you plan on sacraficing reliability for two extra doors, be my guest. I have two pieces of advise for you: 1. If you do not have AAA, buy it. 2. When you drive the Chevy, stay within walking distance of your home.... Good Luck!
My motto: "Patience is a virtue!"
People are impatient by nature so no one is to blame but those who couldn't wait. If the rumor is true about it not being released til '07, then let it be. My lease term should be up by then. And if the economy keeps getting worse to the point where I can't get a decent job to keep paying for the tundra, oh well!!! I got gap insurance.
According to the inventory manager at the local dealership, the Toyota folks were in this week to announce the supercrew will be on the lots in October of this year...
If its true, I'll be selling mine and ordering one....
Moderators Note: The threads "SuperCrew Tundra out in October" and "Toyota Stages World Premiere of All-New Tundra 'Big Rig' Double Cab Pickup at Chicago" have been merged, as they pertain to the same topic matter. --- Possum
I'm wondering if the length will be 217" or will it be equal to the length of the domestics 'bout 225". Titan is about 225", as well. If its any longer, than no thanks.
An additional 8" is too little of a stretch for cab space, if that's the case why even make it. That's just enough room to angle the backseat only, no leg room difference.
I hope they go true crew cab at 131". That would mean an additional 14" to the cab with a 6.5' bed. That sounds right, 7"for leg room and 7" for backseat angle.
