1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "06 Tundra Front Bumper Replacement Update", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I have been researching front bumper replacements for my 2006 DC Tundra. I'm afraid the news is not good. ARBUSA has nothing to fit the 06Tundra according to the tech I spoke to. Tough Country no longer produces bumper replacements for the 06 said they lost their shorts on producing them. Shockwork and Road Armor has nothing for the 06. Okay now what? I thought I would go with the Toyota Chome replacement bumper....$1420.00 installed. Then I called Ranch Hand for a grille guard only to find out they also no longer produce a grille guard for the Tundra.... what the hey! This truck's bumpers suck. The rest of the truck is great.

Somebody said this will work? I've been trying to find out if I could put a chrome bumper on an 05 DC since 05 and I was told it would not work. That the chrome only came on the older and smaller AC trucks or the standard single cab truck.

I also have been wondering this and wanting to put a chrome bumper on the front. It would look so much better. I remember reading awhile ago the someone mounted a DC bumper on his access cab and it bolted right up as long as you have have the bumper support and brackets for it. So, seems like it would work to me, just need some spare money to try it.
You can make chrome bumper to work, but you will need different bumper support (from AcessCab or RegularCab version)
I know this, because I am converting my damaged bumber from 2001 into 2003, and I've compared 2 of the bumpers, and found out that plastic bumper has bigger reinforcement then chrome bumper.

simple reply Line X it I've done it
This is the deal with Toyota bumper's 2003 was the new cheap plastic and grill changes however what that stated they still made them on the reg cab's with the new bumper from the 00-02 setup..I've seen a few 03 up body style Tundra mainly reg cab's with the chrome. I used to have a new 2000 Tundra and Liked my older bumper vs this cheap crap used on the 2003 up but i've taken care of that pitting problem with Line X color matching ultra..
About them fitting yea they will fit might have to do some mod's and some part's swaping but it will work..

The plastic doesnt have bigger reinforcement where did you get this from?
I've taken the bumper off and it's held in place by plastic el cheap clips that extend from the bottom and top (total of about 9 tab's) ..I have seen the bumper reinforcement with a styro foam backer but it's on the Tundra frame. In fact the plastic bumper is a simple setup to install I questioned how strong this really hold's up in an accident. In the future I am reviewing a bull bar setup .....

Are you also converting the grill? I am in the process of doing that. I researched the parts and it looks like it will work with the right parts.

Yep, 2001 and 2003 reinforcements are different and I know it 100%. I can bet money on it if you want.
you can keep reinforcement from 2001 and do plastic bumper cover no problems, but if you want to go from 2006 plastic bumper to chrome bumper you have to replace reinforcement for sure.
picture that you are showing will work for most of the metal and plastic bumpers but this one is from 03-06 tundras (about 3 inches longer)

Yes, i am doing grill also, it is easy to do, it bolts right up with out any issues, but you need to get rid of spacer thing, that goes between bumper and headlights. 2003 uses different spacers.
