1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "What headlight bulbs are yall running?", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I did not do a thing except for popping the bulb into the housing and putting the plug back on. I have the same bulbs in my snowmobile and have no issues with it or in the Tundra at all.
I have an EIKO 80/100W clear bulb in my passenger side housing and a Narva 90/100W clear bulb in in my drivers side. No issues in 75,000 miles. I'll never go back to 55/60W.
Where did you get those, and may I ask why there are different bulbs for each side?

Sounds good. Reason ask is because have heard reports of he wiring harness being overloaded and causing a fire.
Why do you have a different bulb in the drivers side?

Hella HB2/9003 Xenon Blue. Their p/n H83140272 I bought them from Advance. I think they were about $36.00
I put them in my mains. Nice (not too) bright white upgrade from stock.
I want to do the fogs next. Are the fogs in an '06 a p.i.t.a., or not?

I originally bought 3 of the 80/100W EIKO bulbs from Dennis Kirk at DennisKirk - Production Website Home page, straight clear bulbs, no coloring of any kind for me. Over time, maybe 1-2 years, a bulb will go out and I'll use the spare. I was in the Philippines two years ago and found the Narva 90/100 bulbs for really cheap as the dollar is strong against the Peso so I bought 2 and put the 90/100W in my drivers side for now, once the passenger side goes I'll put the other Narva in.
I have not had any issue whatsoever with either my wiring harnesses or wires melting or burning up, nor have my reflectors/lenses melted or distorted, just pure, clean, white light from higher wattage. I get in my GF's Rav4 with her stock 55/60W's and it is like they do nothing, could be old age but brighter is better. The cutoff of the Tundra lamps is so sharp, I have no problems with others coming the other way.
I might go with a 90/100W amber/yellow tinted bulb next, I have one in my snowmobile and it is excellent for contrast.
Here is some info from Dennis Kirk on the bulbs I have, while they are not the Eiko's, I have these in right now. I guarantee that the wattage is not a problem, pop them in, you won't go back or use anything else as I can't stand tinted bulbs, it is like putting on sunglasses to drive at night, it just scuks. DK has a bunch of other 80/100W, some in HD and some in yellow/amber.

It is well known to marketers that the motorist who pays $35 or $45 or even $85 for a set of "special high performance" bulbs will probably perceive a performance improvement even if there is actually none.

Those seem to have a really blue tint to them. I was looking at their website and the 6000k ones seem like they are just nice and white.
Is there actually a noticable amount of greater light, or are they just really bright? And how long have you had them in?
