Default Column shifter hard to move

well my 06 4.7 has been like this since i got it (30k now 10k when i got it)... figured it was normal but i asked my dad if his 2001 did it and he said no. When im in park and try to shift out of park into reverse(or any other gear) it is hard to pull and makes a clunk sound when i do. THe clunk is not in the drivetrain by has something to do with the column shifter. WHen i use the ebrake it doesnt usually do it... when i dont use the ebrake the truck rolls forward farther than most cars/trucks when i let off the brake. Oh its also usually worse at cold starts when the rpms are higher

is this normal or not? is it somethin to worry about?

Try pressing down harder on the brake pedal when shifting (not e-brake), does that loosen things up a bit? If it does, there's a cable that runs up from the brake pedal to the column shifter that you can loosen.

If you are on any kind of slope and put the shifter into park without the e-brake on the truck will roll enough to put pressure on the park pin. This will cause the "thunk" sound when you try to shift back into gear. Most automatics will do this. It might not be the only issue you have but it could be adding to it. Good luck.

Here is a picture of the adjustment location. It is right above the label on the driveshaft, and to the left of the exhaust.
