Default air filter for K&N intake

I can get a good deal on a K&N intake but dont trust the K&N filters... is there any aftermarket filter that will work with the K&N intake?

Yup...for instince, this would probably work on that! AEM dryflow filter. Most companies you can order just the filter.

AEM - 6.0" Dryflow Air Filter Short Neck 5" Element

The K&N will work fine for normal daily commutes on pavement (little dust). I would not use it in consistently dusty conditions.

If you have a Gen 1, have a look for Hi Volt's airbox mod. Three tenths improvement in the quarter mile for the cost of the K&N and less than an hour's work.

If you want to get a filter that can last long and is the lazy type to clean/replace filters often, I'd look at the Volant powercore air filter.

I found that the AEM filter is synthetic, and easy to clean. From what I can tell, it works. I don't know for sure if it will work on the K&N CAI. I would think it should.

yeah the AEM works. the filter size on the K&N is a 3.5 inch inlet, 8 inches long with a 5.5 inch maximum filter diameter. also, the bottom flange length is 1.25 inches. AEM21-2049DK is the part number. hope that helps!

i have found the factory unit to be very effective.
when i want to play race car tuner I spend too much on oil.
the other thing i do is leave it out of overdrive.
that makes it seem faster, i waste just as much gas, and when i get pulled over the ticket is less because i was going slower.

love them "mod's"
