Default Spacer Question

I know people usually don't speak well of spacers, but what is the smalest spacer possible? All I need is 1/2" really to stop a very slight bit of rubbing on the UCA (it doesn't touch when static, has about 1/2" on clearence) It rubs a small bit during driving, not much at all. ANNNNYYWAY I want to know who has had good experience with spacers and what I should get? Remember I want the smallest spacer possible so that I don't make a huge change.

Also, this may sound dumb, but do the spacers go on all 4 tires? If it's such a small change maybe I only need them on the front??

yes, they do have just a 1/2" spacer. lets say you get the toyotec 3", it comes with a 2.5" in coil spacer and another .5" lift that goes over the top of the coil assembly.

here is an example. http://www.toyteclifts.com/images/pr...4topspacer.png

it's 59.99 from toyotec, Tundra Shopping Cart for Toyteclfts.com, and you will need to remove the strut support and replace the studs with newer, supplied, longer studs. scroll down to the "top plate spacers/stud"

you can probably get away with just installing them for the fronts, as the rear will need something different, an add a leaf or lift shackles.

You can buy 1/2 inch spacers but if you go that route, you should upgrade the wheel studs to something 1/2 inch longer also.

I believe he's asking about wheel spacers, not coil spacers. I don't know much about them but I imagine you won't find one thats thinner than the lugs on the wheel or else it wouldn't fit at all.

Edit: I'm thinking of adapters, and typing slow; Cyberbilly's got it.

Yes I am talking about wheel spacers. I spoke to the guy at wheeladapter.com He is a little pricey but he says that they are 100% safe and have no adverse affects on your drive (vibrating, etc). Has anyone used his? Or any spacers...I only need to move them out a very small ammount, but it looks like I am going to need to use an 1" spacer.

If anyone has them or any other type of spacer, let me know what you use and how they have worked.

whoops! anyhow, i myself have some wheel adapter also. i have a 1.5", bought them from a member here for 40(!!) bucks. they are from marlin crawler, Marlin Crawler : Heavy Duty Axle Parts and Accessories (scroll down to the "Toyota 6-Lug Wheel Spacers"). so far i have not had any problems with them at all. no vibration whatsoever. i'm sure that fred from wheeladapter.com has quality stuff, but for 300 bucks, i chose to buy some decent ones and not the most expensive, although like i said, they are probably a better fit. as for the ones that i have, you HAVE to make sure that you center the rim before you tighten them down, or you WILL have vibration problems. but you can tell if it does not go on right anyways.

I've had a set of his adapters for over a year with no problems at all. Yeah, he's a little expensive (OK, quite a bit expensive) but remember that these are holding your wheels and tires to your truck, and if one were to have a problem, it could speel catastrophic failure.

Would you feel safer with a set of ebay specials or a set custom made by a guy who builds race cars for a living?
