Default SCANGAUGE II Questions...

I'm considering the scangauge II for my 2004 Tundra AC 4X4. It it worth the buy? I don't want to mount it anywhere visable, just us it everynow and then to "check my vitals".

How accurate it is with codes such as fixing the check engine light? Will it tell me why it's on?I s it safe just to turn it off??

Are there any negative sides to it?

Last, are there better products that are similar to this one? Or any brands that I should avoid?

hi, it's a great item to have. all it is ,is the infomation already going on. sort of many more guages.
cold air intke temp, rpm,s ho, engine load, etc etc etc..
no it doesn't fix anything. but it will tell you what code it's reading.
than you fix whatever it is. saving you a ton of money.

personally if you didn't want it mounted where you can see it, why barther having it.
whenever a cell code or system code goes off, just take it into the dealership and have them fix it.

there is no on off button, it is always running. and telling you what is going on every few seconds.

for 159shipped it is a awesome item.
but there are several other types out there.
if you want a better 1, buy the 500 dollar 1.
also read the other thread on this subject, it might help answer every question you haven't thought of yet.

What other types are there? Are some better than others? What does anyone suggest?

I don't want all the bells and whistles...I would like the code reader, different temp gauges, and maybe a few other vitals.

look on ebay. but you said you want to hide it, so it would be a waste in my opinion to invest in a 500 scangauge.
besides , you need to fix the code ,not just reset it, if the scanguage show's a code. search for OBD2 scan guage & code readers

I'm gonna necro-post here, but I have also been looking at this product.

How does this function if you have gone up from standard tire sizes? I read you have to set the thing up with fuel tank size, engine size etc, but how does it determine what size tires you have? Is this something you can enter?
