1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Exterior front door trim molding", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I want to replace this, already have the part. its called the front door weatherstrip assembly. #68210-0C010 LH side, for the RH side its part #68160-0C010 side.
I edited my original post since I just went for it.
Its not necessary to get in the door from inside, all thats needed is to force the molding out and up from outside with the glass rolled down. You will see the white clips come up you can break them off if the fall in the door its OK as long as they don't jamb the window mechanism.
To install a new one, be sure the clips line up with the holes in the inside of door, no need to be exact since all five holes are extra wide. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
All done, its a 20 minute job.

Not sure how to remove the old trim, if I remove the entire inner door panel, will it be necessary, don't want to tear it up without real need. anyone?

I work in a collision center and we use SEM black trim spray paint to refinish belt moldings and door trim ...which looks like factory
These have a rubber coating, and they crack from the sun.
To paint would require either totally removing the rubber from the trim or filler on the rubber surface, and must be done or the truck, because trying to remove it will must likely distort the piece, not worth the hassle, at least for me.
These can be purchased on line for around $22 plus shipping, or locally for $30 per side.
I had searched on here for this exact info. but couldn't find it. Ended up doing a google search and it led me back to TS.
Just this past weekend I thought I'd try razor blading the rubber off to see how it looked. Needless to say, it doesn't look too good.
Glad I saw this thread, I in fact did think I would need to remove the inner door panel. So, I just roll the window down and pull it up, huh?
So, after I replace this and in a few months my windshield(several chips, along with the rubber around it showing it's age), the only weatherstrip left is along the roof. It really isn't bad, except at the front and rear edges where is sneaks under the windshield and rear window. Anyone know how this piece pulls up or how difficult it is too replace?
Thanks again for these pictures, very useful.
/Mike

Morepower,
Which online vendor did you purchase the replacement parts from?
Thanks!

Got them from this Dallas dealer, they are one in the same as Genuine Toyota Parts and Accessories wholesale to the public.. Only problem they shipped them and broke them the box was bent, they gave full credit, so I went to a local dealer and paid $30 for one side instead of $55 for two on line.
When you remove them use a thin screw driver (protect the paint by taping the end of the driver) between the molding and the door to start a separation, till theres enough to grab, then go at it by hand.
This trim is so annoying to look at, had I known how easy it was (I searched the net for instructions and nothing) I would have replaced mine long ago.
I accidentally stumbled on this post. Nice. I was just noticing how crappy my molding was. I guess I might learn from your experience and replace it now that I know how!
