Cool Off-Roading in Croom

I would like to start off by saying I am a terrible picture taker, most of the time I get too caught up having fun and dont take pics....

Spent from about 2PM till a little after dark having fun in Withalahatchee State Forrest today. While I didnt get in too deep since there was only one vehicle and w/two people in it (my friend who is as of today into off-roading), but I did find a really great borrow pit full of clay (which is rare in Florida) the borrow pit had a very steep slope on the sides I got a little excited on the way down and forgot to put the breaks on and bottomed out pretty good, but the truck was good to me and nothing broke or damaged. The first picture I took right after I made it up the first time you can see the tire tracks to the right of the grass patch. Second time up I tried the slope to the left of the grass patch and high centered the truck, (I am running on stock suspension) and had to use the winch to drag the truck up. the second two were taken by my buddy of me sucessfully navigating the hill. (the time before I got stuck) The only damage I did to my truck was that I broke the valet button for my remote start when I stepped on the e-brake (I never use it anyway). Lots of soft sand and some interesting areas.

This trip really makes me want to get a long travel setup more than ever if only I had the cash... guess I will be saving for a while.

Cool pics. I am just south of croom in Lakeland. I didn't think you were allowed to drive trucks on the trails there though....

N of the motorcycle area is the croom forrest tract. Gotta get in there through 481 I think it is. There are several forrest roads through there that trucks may travel on. You just gotta pay attention to the signs and not go where they say no motorized vehicles. But the pit I was in is along forest road 8 I believe (probably wasnt supposed to go into the pit but the roads are fine).
