1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Body lift info needed, 4crawler", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am looking into buying a custom 2" body lift from 4crawler.com and they told me that i need the information that is listed on the site for them to make it. and i was wondering if anyone has already done it and can tell me what the specs are? i have a 2001 tundra 4x4
There is nothing wrong with a well built, well installed body lift. In fact,
in many cases they are superior to suspension lifts. Suspension lifts on IFS
trucks like ours use nasty drop brackets that become the weak link of your suspension. Other kits use drop arms and such that throw your CV joints at
crazy angles.
I have no personal experience with body lifts on Tundras, but I do have experience with both 4Crawler and body lifts in general. You should be pretty satisfied with the results. Two inches is a good height.

A REAL truck.
Any particular reason you want a 2" kit vs a 3" kit? What's the goal? I don't think anyone's done a 4Crawler kit or he'd probably have the measurements already .
As long as the spacers are solid and supportive, and the fastening hardware is Grade 8 or better, there's nothing wrong with a body lift if you don't have access to non-bolt-on options.

That aside, I know this is a little off topic but since you guys brought it up & I have some experience with it...
...you can reasonably fit a 35" tire. I'm not aware of any 37" tire narrow enough to fit without rubbing the frame well before full lock, I tried 37x12.5 on stock arms for a while and believe me I've looked for narrow 37s. Best you'll find is a narrow "almost 36"...ie the Q78 Super Swamper (35.5", 27/32" tread depth!). There is a narrow 38" tire but let's be honest, you'll be posing on 38s with stock IFS and quite possibly even the stock rear, and even 37s are pushing your luck. Enough people blow up the drivetrain on 35" tires as it is, more tire is a lot of load on the steering, spindle, bearings, and even the engine, even when you're overgeared. It saps your efficiency and puts a lot more stress on the front drivetrain, and frankly I'd recommend against it for 99% of people who take their factory IFS drivetrain offroad.
37" tire sizes are driven by fashion (wide tread, big rims, ie dubious) and competition (37x12.5 across the board, mostly 17" rims, some 16s). Neither has much business on stock Toyota IFS!
There is a 36x12.5D16 SX, actual diameter just under 36" and about 13" wide on a 10" rim...so figure just over 12" section width on an 8" rim and you might be playing with the backspacing to clear a uniball arm...plus it's bias ply, so just like the Q78 you really gotta have a reason to run it other than looking good. Pit Bull has a very wide 35" tire with a "cross" tread...AT/MT combo sorta deal...but also bias ply, "gotta have a good reason" sort of tire. Looks like it'd make an excellent snow wheeling tire, if you need one.
I dont want all that body hanging out from underneath my body, so i am looking for a 2inch body lify instead of the 3 inch. that will give me 5 inch total and i will be able to clear 35s easy. I need the spec for it though

It's not gonna ride very comfortable with a 3" coilover adjustment. If you're ok with that, so be it...but you can get "lift lips" to cover the gap, and the 3" body lift doesn't even have as much frame showing as some stock domestics I've seen. Combine it with a Bilstein kit and you'll have a comfortable ride as well as the height you're seeking.

I sent a 3" PA kit to Roger a few years ago to measure everything and got him to make the blocks for me. The older trucks will be the same minus 1" from the measurements he has for my truck if you are only doing a 2" lift.
