Angry Best Tuner

What's the best computer tuner for 1st Gen Tundras, specifically a 2004 4.7L Access Cab?

I've been looking around and apparently nobody makes a plug and play style tuner for gen 1 tundras? Is this correct?

Oh guys this is bs it looks like the only thing that halfway works is some kind of "Unichip" that is permanently plugged into the ECM. That is gay... we really need a TUNER for this vehicle. Toyota is the only make not included in Hypertech's all-in-one tuner which IMPROVES EFFICIENCY, PERFORMANCE, AND FUEL MILEAGE. We should all be whining, guys.. I don't know why this issue wasn't effectively handled before.

No wonder Tundra's can't effectively run headers and performance parts.

ive sent emails to Edge Products and they aren't sure whether they will ever have anything. Maybe you should email, superchips and hypertech and see what they say. Try contacting Diablosport too.

I emailed hypertech but it came back to me as a bad email address. Their website sucks... but they displayed a promising unit at the SEMA conference... not sure where I saw the interview on video on the web somewhere... too bad it covers just about every vehicle BUT the Tundra.

I agree I would be willing to fork over the money for one but off course no Tundra tuners. The only downfall to this truck I've found is that apparentlly companys that make aftermarket parts and accesories didn't know they built Tundras till 2007

hey i'm with you, BUT it's not the tuner company's.
it's simply the toyota corp.
that will continue to change the ECU unit's and there code's each and every year.
and refuse to give them out.

so the tuner companys need to figure out the codes and than brake through each and everyone of them in place , for each item they want to redo: such as: tranny shift point's, fuel, air mixture, timing, speed limitor, rev limitor and so on.

and by the time that happen's,
now they have to make something that will work in all these area's, and dyno it, to perfect the result's.

now what happen's??????
by that time, it's a new year for toyota,& all new vehcile's.
and presto and whole new ECU unit and a whole new set of code's.

and the process begin's all over again. toyota corp isn't stupid.

so this will never be the case.
we are lucky that jet and unichip, does something.
they surely work.
i have proven that.

BUT as many HERE have already spoken!
99% of toyota owner's, don't want a tuner for there truck!

they tow, haul, and use it for work. and depednablility.

and when you start messing with tuner's, and thing's, they begin to brake down, less life.

and if you really want my opinion most of them as i have read, don't want to spend the money on a real tuner. look at the UNICHIP, it works ,but cost's lets just say 800. that's way to much for many toyota owner's to spend. they would rather put that money in a lift. or tires and rim's.

not many have ever considered when you lift, you need to also redo the handleing.

i've been in some seriously lifted trucks, that couldn't stay straight, on the highway. they were all over the place. why, they never up-graded the rest of the truck, just a lift, and a set of monster tires.
looks great but drive's like sh%t.

your ownly option if you really want power is to NOS the truck or turbo it.
or
if you have a older year, buy and install 1 of the TRD supercharger's.

but again, many have spoken here, it's a truck and they don't want tuner's.
but if it means anything, i'm with you. a real tuner that can control everything.

sadly thats why many here are mad at me, because i keep saying ford. the ford company ,gives out ALL there code's.

maybe down the road, toyota will make something so bad a$$, no tuner will ever be needed. but i'm dreaming, please wake me up.
nisson is making a GT-R , 3 sec 0 to 60. from what i have heard. thats insane for a car.
