1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "What else to expect from Uhaul?", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am picking up a uhaul trailer this weekend to start moving and want to make sure that I am not missing anything. I have the two inch ball, hitch, and wiring, but not sure if I need anything else. I am going to be pulling the 6 x 12 closed trailer. Thanks
Uhaul trailers are all 4 wire loose wires. Not even flat plug. I finally bought one of their adapters when I was moving my kids back and forth to college. Sometimes, if it's a local rental, they'll loan you the adapter.
And then of course remember they may not have the trailer you need when you go to pick it up. And they didn't seem very concerned that I was ticked off because I had secured the reservation with my credit card and expected them to do what they said.
At noon on the day I reserved it they called me and said I'd have to go pick the trailer up at another store. It turned out to be a 100 mile round trip.
For me I don't think I can trust them for any future renting.

While it sux to have rented something and count on it to be there. As a biz owner myself I know that things happen. How can Uhaul control if someone said they would return it on friday but dont until sunday ? What should they do call the cops, hunt them down ? While it is the next guy in the renatl cycle that gets screwed. So while your contract was with them they may have been powerless. That being said I dont work for Uhaul nor will I ever.

This makes me feel great. I am in a college town so I am hoping that they have what I reserved. It is going to be a busy week. I hope that I dont have to drive somewhere, I am moving a 300 gallon fish tank so "time is money" as they say. Thanks for all of the help.
Towed a 6X12 U-Haul trailer from CA to MI last summer, no issues other than having to buy a 7 - 4 pin adapter which sucked because I had 3 at home in MI.
My real problem was about 3 years ago when we moved. I reserved a truck for a whole day and when I went to pick it up they told me I had to have it back by 2:00. Like I'm gonna move a whole house full of stuff 20 miles by 2:00. I told them no, I reserved it for a day and that was how long I was going to use it. When I brought it back at 3:30 they charged me for 2 days. Took a number of phone calls, but eventually they refunded most of it.
