Default Warn Trans4mer installation

I just wanted to get some opinions before I made a concrete decision. I went to a local truck outfitter to get a quote on a brush guard for my 05 dc. I decided on the Warn Trans4mer because it seems the most rigid and more functional than the competitors. Their prices for the actual products were pretty consistent with what I have seen online, but here's my the strange part....For installation of the Trans4mer it was going to be $200 because "those Tundras have to have the bumper taken off to fasten the brackets and theyre more complicated than the Chevy's" but, they pointed to a lesser quality grill guard (frame mounted as well) that they only charge $60 to install. So I thanked the guy for his time and left. I found the installation instructions w/ pictures of the Warn piece and nowhere did they illustrate removing the bumper...wtf?? So basically I'm asking, was this guy trying to pull one over on me? is the Warn guard that much of a hassle to install?

Default Re: Warn Trans4mer installation

No you gotta take the bumper off for accessing the top tab on the frame mounts. I have done it myself (by myself) its easy enough. I suggest getting a friend and having them help so its easier to put the bumper back on. It is def. a stout piece of equipment though, not as stout as an arb bumper but still pretty tough

*Edit: FYI $200 for install is still really expensive considering it took me 3 hours to do it by myself, with a break every 15 min. If you brought it to me I would do it for a tank of gas. A good 4wd shop should only take 1.5 HRS at $75/HR (labor = $115)
