1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "drowned airbox", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I don't know why none of us thought to check the air filter during the rebuild of my '00 access cab, but we didn't. I just happened to look yesterday, and the whole filter and airbox looks like somebody dumped a quart of oil in it! I'm guessing I should replace the whole thing, since there's lots of oil up inside the screen in the top of the box. I suspect the MAF is pretty much plugged as well. I'll get the MAF cleaned up over the weekend, but I'll have to wait for the new filter to come in. I also don't know how much I should expect to pay for a new box...
hi, find out the price of a new box, see if it's cost effective to replace it with a after market 1.
or maybe a junk yard or salvage yard might have 1.
or
i know i have a almost brand new 1. i replaced my stock oem box, within the 1st 2 or 3 week's i bought my truck.
it is still in a storage plastic container box. i already gave away the K & N drop in filter, but my OEM filter is about 2 weeks old. it's almost brand new.
let me know, i'll bet, i'll sell you mine for less. be honest on the price of a new stock air box & new oem filter. and ,i'll try to help you out.
gorilla
Thanks for the offer Gorilla. I'll see what I can dig up from the dealer, and I'll see what I can get apart to clean myself. I'll get back to you when I know more.
cheers,
matt
Not sure if the air filter/Box is the same for a 2000 versus a 2005 TUNDRA. Better check that out first !
