This is a discussion thread titled "Hail Damage", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
We had a hail storm last week and I noticed a few dings. There is not enough damage to make an insurance claim. (4 dings) Does anyone know how to fix hail damage. I heard there are alot of tricks that can be done, but dont know if any of them are true.
Thanks.
Your best bet is to look for a paintless dent repair professional in your area. These guys can do an exceptional job of removing the dents with no need to repaint. Check for listings online or in your local yellow pages.
Ive heard this but dont know if its true or not
supposedly if you heat up the ding part with a hair dryer or on a real hot day then take a can of that liquid air and flip it upside down and spray it, it should pop out.
Its what ive heard

Sounds like a variant of the classic "dry ice trick". I've seen dry ice pop quite a few out with my own eyes; it's not perfect but it definitely works on the less severe ones.

I tried the dry ice one before to no avail lol
but at least these are cheap to attempt if not PDR always works
The paintless guys do an AMAZING job ! for hail damage they sneak a long flat tool ( looks like a looooong screwdriver ) with a curved tip under the headliner and find the damaged spot. They then "work" it by massaging the metal until the bump is gone. They can do 4 like yours in about an hour or so, unless it is in a tricky spot like on a "A" pillar or such.
Somebody dented my brand new TUNDRA's door after about a week of ownership. I was mad as %#$$%^& as you can imagine. The local PDR guy fixed it in about 20 mn. You cant see where it was now.
Good luck !

Oklahoma brothers I think we are in for a crazy weather spring, with the screwy winter we had! Paintless dent repair is definately amazing I had it done just recently. We got hit about a month ago we didn't get that one that hit MWC a week ago. Had a total of about seven, four on the hood and three on the roof. A couple of hours later I was on my way, very pleased they even got a couple of door dings that had been bothering me!

I know it, I love our fair state of Oklahoma but sometimes the weather can really get old.
Yea another Oklahoman here, you got lucky you just had that little of damage. Mine is getting PDR all over roof, doors, sides and then i am getting a new hood. Lets just say it wasn't pretty. But yea gotta love our weather.

Sorry to hear that your truck got pounded, I was lucky, my wifes car got slamed and it was parked right next to mine. We had alot of neighbors loose glass on their vehicles. My father was at the local mall when it hit, they totaled his car.
May want to consider waiting until the worst part of storm season is typically over in a few more weeks. It would really suck to pay to get it all fixed and another storm slam it.
Ask me how I know.
Last evening I watched a tornado pass over the house less than 100 feet up. Rotation approx three blocks wide and descending. 30 seconds later it was damaging roofs in the subdivision. The sirens came on two minutes later. Ain't Oklahoma weather fun!
